The country side of Wales is very much as I expected with heather growing on the higher hills and sheep everywhere. I was surprised by the difference between the Scottish and Welsh sheep. Apparently, their \scottish sheep have their tails docked which is not alwys the case in Wales. Some had them partially bobbed while others have long tails like dogs. They are on every field with bits of their wool captured on the thistles and other weeds.
The second night in Wales, we stayed in a very small village, Llandeilo, with a strange little pub called the Blue Bell Inn. The pub was located across the street from a very old church which claims to be the site of one of the oldest Christian community in Britain. Just beyond the church and its graveyard were (you guessed it) more sheep. John tried very hard to entice them over to us but every time we got near them, they just moved further up the hill.
The locals really did not wish to talk with us in this town so we were left on our own to figure out what we could before we went onto the next village.
