Isle of Skye, Scotland

We plan to spend two days on Skye which until recently was only accessible by ferry. Now the bridge makes it easier for locals to get back and forth but it has taken away some of the charm. One of this island’s claims to fame is that this was the last Scottish refuse of Bonnie Prince Charlie after the Scottish defeat at Culloden Moors in April 1746.
We stayed in Portree which is on the east side of the island about mid-way. Driving down to the harbour is truly frightening as it is a narrow two lane road with cars parked on one side. Scary!
Our home for these two days is the Almondbank B & B and a lovely Scottish woman named Mrs. Nicholson is our hostess. She is going to a Nicholson Clan Gathering in Vancouver in October. She will be fine with the rain as that seems to be the only weather available to the Scots. The room has a lovely view of the harbour and the hills above.
On our first day, we explore Portree which does not take all that long. The next day, after my hassle with the laundrette (particularly the young lady who was employed there), we went to the west side to the Caste Dunvegan which is the historical home of the Clan MacLeod.
The radio stated that the high today was 8 degrees; I swear that you can see your breath. This is July/August. What does February feel like in a stone castle?
