Well the flight over was great. As Maggie mentioned we got to use the first class departure area, I wasnt expecting too much from this as the guy that checked us in at Calgary told me that it wasnt a patch on the one in London. However it was pretty good, free food and drink including all beers, wines and spirits. While I was sitting their consuming the free goods I got to read the latest UK edition of Hello, I didnt realise Malcolm Mclaren was dead. For those of you asking who Malcolm was then you obviosley didnt grow up with Punk Rock.
I would have slept pretty good on the plane over as I usualy have difficulty keeping awake in a convential plane seat. Although the seat that converted into a bed was super comfy I got hooked on the free films and T.V. How great to be able to pick your own film to watch and then swap to another one when you get bored and even have the option of pausing and fast forwarding when you like. Due to all these options I didnt get too much sleep.
Very odd stepping foot on British soil after an absense of 10 years even if I didnt leave the airport. Did feel a little homesick at that point and I am wondering how I will feel after spending August there.
Yesterday on arrival in Barcelona was a little damp and chilly. The shuttle bus picked us up at about 9.00 PM and the Hotel was about 10 minutes away. Today however was much better, decent weather and we are staying in the centre of the city so lots to see. We are staying on the fith floor of our Hotel looking out down on the Rambles.
Thought it was odd that the window was completely covered up and then I Realsed that their was a swith that lowered and raised the shutters, the same as on a garage door.
Seems that we keep missing the catastrophes in Europe. We barely missed the volcanoe in Iceland although I now see it is flaring up again. I wonder what will occur in Greece. We will be getting there in June and I see on the news that the country is rioting and on general strike. Hope it clears up soon.
John.
