Today, we learn about Greeks bearing gifts to the City of Troy. In fact, Helen of Troy and the wooden horse are legend with no historical evidence. In actual fact, the entrances to the city were not wide enough to allow the Trojan Horse in. This was a blow to John who wants to believe in Helen and he wanted the horse to be big enough for the whole army not just half a dozen soldiers. There is a mock-up of a wooden horse at the entrance to the site.
It is really amazing to realize the infrastructure that they were able to engineer and build; especially, considering they are unable to have a modern washroom without water all over the floor and, in some cases, only a hole in the floor. Turkish toilets are really a challenge; particularly, wearing pants because the material hangs below your knees and has a tendency to drag into the liquid which may not may not be water.
Our hotel for the night was a Crowne Plaza and really very nice. We are get a buffet breakfast and dinner which is great because you can take a small sample and leave it if you do not like it. My opinion is that that you have to hear the music, see the flowers, meet the people, and get the real taste of Turkey.
